In order to reduce the emission of greenhouse gases in accordance with the Paris Agreement and the Energie Autonomie Vorarlberg, a decarbonisation of the residential and non-residential building sector is necessary. This is being confirmed by a statement of the provincial government in the Energie- und Monitoringbericht Vorarlberg. According to this report, in 2016 47 % of the final energy consumptions were allotted to the building sector.
For the year 2019, a proper analysis of the non-residential sector was planned. From beginning on it was obvious that the characteristics of non-residential buildings (n-rb) are very heterogenous and relevant data is far less edited compared to the residential sector. Therefore, an estimation of the current data situation and the energy consumption of n-rb in Vorarlberg was done through this exploratory research. This research is part of the EU-project IMEAS within the Interreg Alpine Space programme.
