Commission welcomes first-ever EU standards to reduce pollution from trucks
The European Parliament and the Council reached provisional agreement on a Regulation setting, for the first time in the EU, strict CO2 emission standards for trucks.
This deal follows the agreement reached in December on new CO2 emission standards for cars and light vans in the EU for the period after 2020. As part of the sets of legislative proposals on clean mobility introduced by the Juncker Commission, it is a further stepping stone for modernising the European mobility sector and preparing it for climate neutrality in the second half of the century. Under today’s agreement, emissions from new trucks will have to be 30% lower in 2030 compared to the 2019 emissions.
